Microsoft has again selected John Bryce Training, the Training and Deployment Division of Matrix, to conduct the first Hyper-V course in China. Hyper-V is Microsoft’s new virtualization solution. Shachaf Cohen, Director of Microsoft Infrastructures at John Bryce Training Israel arrived in Beijing to conduct the course to senior employees of Microsoft China who came to learn about the new products. Also present at the course were senior partners and premium clients of Microsoft China. According to Uri Lapid, Deputy General Manager for Technologies and manager of John Bryce operations in China, "Microsoft expects to qualify 1,200 Chinese integrators in the virtualization field by the end of 2009. This comprehensive, in-depth training, the first of its kind, included lectures, workshops, and labs. The course goal was to qualify representatives of the attending companies to train thousands of employees in their organizations on how to use the new systems.
"Shachaf Cohen, Director of Microsoft Infrastructures at John Bryce Training and the instructor of the course commented: "This was the first time I taught in China and above all, I was impressed with the size and strength of the organizations represented at the course. The new virtualization products of Microsoft will definitely come into full use serving complex and vast enterprise systems with tens of thousands of users within Chinese enterprises."
"I noticed a great deal of shyness among the Chinese trainees. They avoid asking questions or interrupting the lecturer, as it is customary in Israel. To address this phenomenon, we built structured lectures and workshops with special segments allocated for questions. During the question and answer period we used a translator to avoid misunderstandings and to neutralize the shyness factor," added Cohen.
The Hyper-V platform is a hardware-based virtualization technology, an essential part of the Windows Server 2008 operating system. The launching of Hyper-V, in October of this year marks Microsoft's entry into the growing field of virtualization.
The course included instruction of the Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) system which enables management of various virtualization systems, including products of competing vendors. The system is highly distributed, can convert physical machines into virtual computers, and can embed the virtual environment into an Internet portal. The product will be officially launched at the end of the month.
Microsoft also invited John Bryce Training to participate in the Ad-Tech event scheduled for the end of the month in Beijing. "The Ad-Tech in China is special, naturally, because of its enormous size and its ability to host hundreds of thousands of customers," said Lapid. "Shachaf Cohen is expected to return to Beijing to present a combined lecture on Hyper-V and VMM. He will also conduct two hands-on labs on the subject and a question and answer session on script writing for managing virtual systems."
